Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...

Zero Two Mike SoldierHow glad I am to be out of it. I know there’s lots of fish in the sea and you get to choose, but some of the sturgeon you see hauled in, or simply inspected by other fishermen…yeck.
About Me
I am a very self-sufficient woman that is extremely clean, neat and organized (most of the time). I keep a clean home and I can definitely don’t like to cook (hey … I’m Italian .. what else would you expect?!). I always will defend my point of view if I feel strongly about something. I love to be mentally stimulated and be comfortable enough with my partner to be able to discuss politics, religion, jobs, each others wants and desires or whatever topic that might come up. I am not religious, but do consider myself a spiritual person. I have 2 wonderful children – a 22 yr old daughter that lives on her own and a very self-sufficient 14 yr old son that lives with me and visits his dad often – leaving me some time to relax and enjoy doing things I wouldn’t necessarily do when he’s around!I am tired of working hard to support myself and my son. I am a one man woman and prefer to be in a monogamous relationship. I have always been the type to work right along side my partner, but when I have a man in my life, I expect him to enhance my life and be “the man”. Open doors for me … whisper sweet nothings in my ear …
I love the outdoor life … especially if it involves boating. I’d almost like to say that a prerequisite to dating me is that you must have a boat. However, if you do have one, it wouldn’t hurt your odds of getting to know me! I enjoy catching fish (I am the Sabiki QUEEN and can catch baitfish like nobody’s business!). I love festivals, art shows, boat shows, romantic lunches or dinners on the water, comedy clubs. I expect you to pay for all of the entertainment. I like to stay as active as possible. If you’ve kept me busy enough all day and I just happen to fall asleep on the couch while we’re snuggled together watching TV in the evening, please know that I am very content and feeling incredibly safe in your arms. I love it when you snuggle up behind me, nestle your face in my neck and slumber peacefully right there with me! I know how the man in my life needs to be treated and I know how to keep him happy. I just need to find a man that can reciprocate and fulfill my needs! Is there anyone out there like that? ?Ideal Person: Besides enjoying many of the same activities that I enjoy, such as boating, fishing, traveling, romantic dinners, public displays of affection, etc., my ideal man would be educated and well spoken without being overbearing and****. He would be able to converse politely with people young and old and he would be admired by anyone he comes in contact with. He must also treat his mother well!
My guy needs to be self-assured and confident in himself. He will have great teeth and a beautiful smile, a healthy body and be disease free. He will be tall, handsome, gentle, kind and will always smell delicious! He will not be jealous or clingy. He must love to laugh and have the ability to make me laugh! You will exude sex appeal and I will know when I look into your eyes that you are burning with passion and desire for me and me only! When we’re out at dinner and I’m walking back from the ladies room, I expect to see you looking at me with “that look” in your eyes that let’s me know we’ve got to go home … NOW! I know you must exist. Come find me!”
You know who really needs to see how bad things can get. It’s not the guys out looking; they can read the ad for themselves, and come to their own conclusions.
It’s parents of little girls.
Sure, she’s your little darling and she’s cute, and when you find out she wants something you just want to make the whole household orbit around that.
Moderation in all things, parents. Moderation in all things. This is nothing less than a cultural crisis going on here. Vast reserves of energy…theirs…others’…going into making these grown-up girls as happy as they were in childhood, and they’re only becoming more miserable, making others even moreso.
Moderation in all things.

It does make me wonder exactly what this gal plans to bring to the relationship. She’d have been much better off simply talking about herself some more and leaving the requirements off the list. At the very least, she needs to figure out what her “non-negotiable’s” are as supposed to the “would-be-nice-to-have” items.
It reminds me very much of a “best of” post I read on Craigslist awhile back – “Women write W4M ads like they’re ordering a sandwich – a little more height please, easy on the love of sports.”
I only hope this gal realizes she’s going to have to compromise on a lot of this stuff…or that she’s going to have to fight off a lot of other women for this guy’s attention, assuming he does exist.
Still though, Morgan. Must you be so cynical about women, all the time? I realize you probably got burned, but come on.
- cylarz | 12/02/2008 @ 13:49Fascinating that she can’t even meet her own standards, heh.
Yup, can’t understand why this broad needs to advertise for a man. Nope.
Let’s see…a post about ‘Phone Sex Workers’ and now this…there is a correlation I believe.
- tim | 12/02/2008 @ 14:37Again: Averages versus exceptions. This “lady” is no exception. Last time I was out lookin’, I’d go online and I’d see page after page after page of beauties offering nary a word about what they’d bring to the table. Just a big ol’ shopping list for attributes their potential suitors either did or did not have…if you didn’t have ’em, just — go off and die. And if you did, you were supposed to say to yourself “Golly! She’ll accept me! How lucky for me!”
This wasn’t the exception. This was the rule.
One time I was reading such a “shopping list” and the gal who owned it, came online. I’d already determined we weren’t a match for other reasons, geographical I think, but I flagged her down anyway for a chat. I politely critiqued her profile, explaining that she wasn’t including enough about what she had to offer. We had a very civil conversation. It simply never occurred to her that this is what she needed to include. She was very grateful to me for pointing it out…nothing acrid or caustic there. That’s a chick thing. When you’ve spent your whole life with people finding out what you want so they can bring it to you, you adapt.
There’s another factor here about nasty women though: This one has a son. She’s out shoppin’ for a new daddy. What’s good for the boy, doesn’t seem to factor into it. She just wants to sunbathe. Sorry, that’s just a nasty bitch. Noticing it doesn’t make me a bitter person. Too often in life, “You’re Just Bitter” is used as a meaningless bromide to brush off legitimate criticism directed toward female things. This is a problem, because when females lack the skills to exist productively in proximity to others, children suffer.
I’ve dated a lot of single moms. A whole lot of ’em. One of them was a real sweetheart; that was the widow. I think that says something. If they had a kid, and they chose to split up anyway, there must have been a reason.
Let’s see…a post about ‘Phone Sex Workers’ and now this…there is a correlation I believe.
Heh. Yeah, you’re right. I finally renewed my TOTALFARK subscription. 🙂
- mkfreeberg | 12/02/2008 @ 15:01Cylarz: Morgan isn’t bitter. Ya wanna talk bitter? I have a day or three to kill… but even that might not be enough time. 😉
Morgan: Perhaps we should share a few of our “greatest hits” in the ‘net dating scene. Off-line, of course. (I’m just kidding. You’ve read the only story I wanna share in this space.)
- Buck | 12/02/2008 @ 16:01Looks like she is divorced.
I wonder why?
