Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
The Hello Kitty of Blogging is very surprising to me sometimes, in terms of what posts & pictures get repeatedly “liked” and “shared.”
Seems an awful lot of people managed to identify with this one:
And, you know, that is certainly an encouraging sign.

I’d say 90% of my posts on the HKB are political in some way. While I’m sure they offend my handful of liberal friends (most have probably unsubscribed from me by now) and bore the rest, I do consistently get “likes” from a few of them. The fact of the matter is that I don’t have a blog and thus have no other real means of getting my opinion “out there.”
Most of my FB friends posts pictures of their children, humor bits, or other cutesy things. Many are particularly fond of these silly things George Takei (yeah, Mr Sulu) finds and reposts. Now and then a gem does pass my way in this fashion, but most of the time I prefer to be serious. Does anyone really care that I was “tagged” at some local restaurant or that I took a drive to the mountains?
I am not into most of it.
- cylarz | 09/09/2012 @ 11:08Yeah, there seem to be quite a few Facebook cops out there operating out of the rulebook of: We aren’t taking anything seriously, and we don’t want anybody else to do that either.
Which, when you think on it, you realize becomes an oxymoronic vision…
- mkfreeberg | 09/09/2012 @ 14:30When Obama was elected, you couldn’t go onto anything without being hit with political stuff. I couldn’t even go out to knitting sites without getting a serving of the wonderfulness of Obama. Facebook was so bad a year ago that I stopped really following it. Now, it’s true I’ve added some conservative friends to the mix. But honestly, I’m not seeing anything like the last election. When they say the Dems are demoralized as hell, they aren’t kidding. People who supported Obama last time aren’t thrilled with his performance, even if they still support him. I’m in one of the bluest of blue states (WA state) and I hardly even see any Obama bumper stickers. I do see a lot more folks willing to stand up against the outright lies (I’ve been fighting that “Keep America American” lie. Yes they still claim it’s a slogan used by local Republican offices. It did shut them up though when I fought back on it. Funny how they can ignore that the KKK was started by Democrats.) There’s a couple more months of this and I think you will get a lot more complaints about wanting the political stuff to end.
- teripittman | 09/10/2012 @ 09:21Really?
I’ve always considered Facebook (much like Twitter, Wiki, etc.) to have “evolved” into 50% of the bread and circuses progrom.
Of course, I’m not uh…qualified to have an opinion on this as I don’t spend money
on such things, nor to spend “juuuuuust a little extra” to have special “extra fast” ability to spread my own little brand of bile. It was enough of a stretch for me to actually get a cell phone-no “apps”, that I keep OFF unless I WANT to contact someone. Sure I COULD take pictures of my grilled cheese sandwich and post it for all to “share”, using an “extra” service, but that’s only because I couldn’t find a phone at Mall-Wart WITHOUT a built in camera.
I can get a discount on “health” insurance if I saaaay I don’t smoke/use tobacco
- CaptDMO | 09/11/2012 @ 13:57(nothing said about reefer, crack, or meth ), don’t work in a coal mine/fishing boat, etc.
Am I “entitled” to a gub’mint, or private, health care “access”/pre-existing condition discount if I don’t risk walking into public fountains,
crashing head-on into “short” school busses, falling down urban subway stairs, anxiety/stress/sleep disorder/brain cancer/blowing up the gas station pump, if an electronc sweep of all such “essential services” turns up-nada/Luddite/paleo-grouch?
Morgan,
Dude, you all right? No posts all week? Whad’ya do, go and get hitched?
Hope everything is A OK.
