Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
…and left-wing opinion. So says Dennis Prager.
Take all the time you need. But no matter how much time you take, you probably won’t come up with any examples.
Here are examples of major world issues and what is deemed “world opinion.” They happen to all be Leftist views as well.
— hatred of President George W. Bush and admiration of President Barack Obama
— Manmade carbon emissions lead to global warming and devastation of the environment. Therefore, the world’s nations must tax carbon-based energy.
— The American invasion of Iraq was morally wrong, motivated by desire for oil.
— Israel is bad, as exemplified most recently by the Turkish flotilla incident.
— The American free-enterprise system is inferior to Europe’s welfare-state systems.
— The American health care system is inferior to that of all other wealthy countries.
This list in no way differs from a list of Leftist positions. Nor would any other list of “world opinion” positions differ in any meaningful way from Leftist positions.
:
…The world’s media and virtually all international organizations are Leftist in their politics, and they both define “world opinion” and in turn shape it.Of course, there are other powerful institutions in the world that shape public opinion. But virtually none contravene the Left-wing views of the world’s media and world organizations on world issues.
The price to be paid for betraying individuality is that you aren’t allowed any. You’re given a list of opinions you are to have, and that’s that.
Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

I riffed on this one over at my place as well:
- Profmondo | 07/08/2010 @ 07:40Thanks for the add, btw!
You are a more-than-worthy one, sir.
- mkfreeberg | 07/08/2010 @ 09:31Well, of course.
“World opinion” only counts in the minds of left-wingers when it agrees with them. Did you notice during the early part of the Iraq War, they weren’t interested in quoting from leaders of countries that had actually sent troops & support – Poland, Italy, Holland, the UK, or literally dozens of others? They also don’t seem interested in the street-level opinions of anyone who is pro-US or pro-Western.
No, of course not. The “rest of the world” apparently consisted of no more than France, Germany, Russia and China. I remember hearing from one Joe Sobran, a Pat Buchanan-ish paleocon (and self-styled libertarian) whom I guess is a syndicated columnist. Anyway, he said that the US was obligated to listen to the “principled opposition” of “our old friends” Germany and France, because after all, old reliable friends are the ones who give you good advice, even when it isn’t what you want to hear.
I wrote to him and said, “Joe, cut the bullshit. Germany, France, and Russia didn’t want us and the British going into Iraq, because they knew we were going to find out that they were helping Saddam cheat the Oil-For-Palaces program, by allowing corporations based in those countries to establish clandestine, quid-pro-quo business relationships. Cut the bullshit, as in, stop pretending that these countries are genuinely worried about America’s best interests.” As for China, there WAS a principle at work there – it could simply be counted on to oppose anything that was good for the USA. It’s an enemy of the United States – don’t think otherwise.
Joe came completely unglued. Some people just can’t handle the truth about this “world opinion” nonsense. The guy was a known cynic and yet I had to be the one to break the bad news.
- cylarz | 07/08/2010 @ 09:51And yet ….
Which way, again, are the bows of the boats in the world’s oceans pointed? Why do we have 12 million people who snuck in behind our backs?
Reminds me of something I once said about the Global Warm-ongers. It’s real easy to get all of the experts on your side if you can reflexively define away any who disagree with you as “non-experts.”
“What about these guys?”
“Oh, that’s them greedy hacks paid off by big oil, to a man! Pay them no attention. (and don’t look into my accusations, or you’re automatically one of them the instant you start to look)”.
Besides, even if it were true … didn’t your mom ever say “if everybody else jumps off of a bridge does that mean you have to, too?”
“World opinion” apparently once thought the world was flat as well.
