Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Here are the two videos. From Breitbart. I have nothing to add and I’m almost certain you’ve seen them before; just doing my bit to get ’em out there. It’s important.
But by all means, continue to make the unceasing demands for the Tea Party people to purge racism from their ranks. </sarcasm>
Update: Via Cassy, just returned from her vacation, we see over at Hot Air that Ms. Sherrod has resigned over the comments. The wasp is dead, the nest remains.
Is President Obama going to get started sometime soon on healing America’s racial divide and starting this glorious, post-racial-animosity period of our nation’s history? Like, any week now? Or is that still a ways off? Because lately, the people in positions of power don’t seem to be very much dedicated to the vision.

“… than other Republicans and indeed many other Americans” (but we won’t even mention Democrats). Some of the most racist people I know are Democrats.
Anyway, the truth doesn’t matter, results are all they’re after. Almost like they’ve read Saul Alinsky.

After listening to the more complete video (which, it should be pointed out, still seems to be somewhat edited) I’m going to have to eat some crow on some of this. From what I know about it at this point, and understand to be true, this is a horribly poorly-thought-out sacking that’s taken place. If these facts hold up, this is not a personnel move that can be backed by anyone of sound character.
Nevertheless it remains a valid point that there is a double-standard at work that a civilized society shouldn’t tolerate in any way. Ms. Sherrod may have been mistreated, but I’m glad she got a chance to demonstrate this while the iron was still hot. And if she was a Tea Party official put in the same position, there’s no way it would’ve happened.
- mkfreeberg | 07/21/2010 @ 13:27Well, I’m with Breitbart on this one. He wasn’t after Shirley. He was after the NAACP. He said look what she said, and watch the reaction of the NAACP members. They didn’t know she was going to get around to saying it wasn’t about black and white (although why did she continue to use the term “his own kind”. Isn’t human kind “our” own kind?)
Breitbart didn’t get Shirley fired. Fox News didn’t get Shirley fired. A White House that didn’t have all the facts acted stupidly, and brashly.
They knew they were the fox in the hen house with blood around their mouths and feathers stuck to it when farmer brown opened the door. They were very eager to prove that the were not in there macking off chickens and trying to get away with it. They are spooked as a horse in a rattlesnake den. And that is a good thing!
Don’t Tread on Me!!!!!!
- philmon | 07/21/2010 @ 13:33Well, after reviewing the entire tape I’m finding it a little tough to condemn even the people in the audience who were “right on”-ing and cheering and chortling. They seemed to know where the story was going.
But I’d like to see someone step forward and explain to me why, if Ms. Sherrod is deserving of a full hearing involving all the relevant facts before anyone rushes to judgment — and I believe she is & was — how come Mark Williams doesn’t get the same consideration? That was Brietbart’s original point, these “Could Be Construed As” rules seem to apply to some but not to others.
- mkfreeberg | 07/21/2010 @ 13:49Precisely.
On the point of the “right on”‘s and chortling …. had that been a white person talking about “his own kind” … no amount of addtional context would be enough to exhenorate him (or her).
- philmon | 07/21/2010 @ 13:52Check it. I think Glenn covered it well last night. (video included there).
- philmon | 07/21/2010 @ 14:02On the Mark Williams thing — I read what he wrote. It was over the top and in very poor taste, IMHO. It wasn’t a smart move on his part whether he actually thinks that way or not. It was most unhelpful.
- philmon | 07/21/2010 @ 14:09Breitbart was on Dennis Miller this afternoon. Much more context from the man himself.
