Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Hat tip to blogger friend Rick.
This “liberals must win whenever they act offended” rule has wedged us into a very strange and surreal little corner of reality here. People who maintain a personal objection against premature pregnancy terminations in whatever form, must now fail to prevent their own dollars from funding exactly that.
Meanwhile, better success is enjoyed by those who have similar personal objections against…uh…well, you tell me if this is sincere or not: They don’t want the word “slut” to be used on the Rush Limbaugh show. Rush’s show is not funded by their dollars, and oh, let me just cut to the chase, I’m calling bullshit on the whole idea that any of them have ever heard a single syllable out of it.
But they must win because they’re just oh so offended.
You, on the other hand, have to keep ponying up for that Fluke slut’s birth control.

This “liberals must win whenever they act offended” rule is one of the main reasons they hate Rush so much, I think — they’re one-trick ponies, and Rush does their one trick (constantly amping everything up to 11) much better than they do.
Instead of pointing out that they do the same type of thing, but worse (Maher calling Palin a c*nt), I think we should ask them to explain precisely why they find these things offensive. Call it the “Borat” strategy — “American liberal is always talking how much she love to make the sex, yet gets mad when Rush say she like the sex. For to explain please.” Or “But what is Slut Walk? Slut is good, yes? You say all womens should be proud to be slut, yes?”
And of course they’ll reply with “you just don’t understand” or some stuff about “nuance.” Let’s hold their feet to the fire: “No, I don’t understand; that’s why I’m asking you to explain it to me. I WANT to be a liberal — help me square all these seeming circles (“seeming,” because surely such brilliant, compassionate, educated people as yourselves have explanations for all this).”

“This video is private”
What the heck is that?
Waste of time.

Likewise. I stumbled across some blog page a couple of nights ago discussing the issue (it was the kind with FB posts from people, using their real names), and with only a few exceptions, it was full to the brim with vitriol, hatred, and anger toward Rush. Most also called him names (“windbag,” “drug addict,” and a few others I will not repeat) as if that somehow reinforced the point they were trying to make.
Not one of them, of course, even attempted to refute the idea that it’s unnecessary for the government to be funding birth control for some college student. None questioned the idea that she is spending $3,000/year on it. None mentioned that any girl who spends that much on b/c must have “boyfriends” lined up around the block (hence the original “slut” comment). None even attempted to respond to the opposition’s contention that if the gov’t must pay for birth control, it should also be providing food and other basics. Nobody thought it odd that a girl who attends a prestigious school like Georgetown, suddenly can’t afford birth control.
In other words, the comments were long on disgust and rage, and short on analysis or explanation to an outsider. Why am I not surprised by this?
- cylarz | 03/07/2012 @ 04:40A great analysis here by my good friend Roxeanne:

- Roxeanne de Luca | 03/07/2012 @ 09:03Someone did the math and said that if you accept Sandra’s inflated estimates of what the Pill costs, then her three years at Georgetown Law will cost $194,000 as opposed to $191,000.
