Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Christopher Chantrill writes in American Thinker:
I don’t mean that the president should be a Polly-Anna and pretend that everything is hunky-dory in America. I just want a president that wants to fix America because he loves America.
Unlike our liberal friends and their poster boy, President Barack Obama.
The problem with our liberal friends is that they think that they are too evolved to descend to the celebration of a nation-state and its flummeries of patriotism and flags and Pledges of Allegiance. And so thinks President Obama. Liberals are globalists; they are cosmopolitans. And so is President Obama. They believe in supranational governance with the EU and the UN. And so does President Obama.
They do not love America; they sneer at America.
An idea whose time has come?

If I were still a Democrat, as the great majority of my family are, and I truly held the classic low opinion of all those jingoistic bitter-clinging flyover denizens, then I would be all about flags, brass bands, and parades. How else would I motivate those dullards to support my massive “It’s Good for You!” government programs? Even if I thought it was all malarky I’d play it up whenever possible.
It’s possible, of course, that we’ve passed that particular decision point. Maybe JFK was it. I can recall a couple of weeks ago seeing some lefty nattering on Twitter about how “insulting” it was that patriotism was now regarded exclusively as a conservative virtue, which nettled me enough to reply that if the Left hadn’t sneered at patriotism for the past thirty years, maybe we wouldn’t regard it as such.
