Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
What a wonderful stockpile of advantages President Obama enjoys as He does whatever it is you want to call what He’s doing: governing…leading…inspiring…ruling over. It would be awfully tough for Him to out-and-out violate a campaign promise, even if He tried to. Pledges did get made, and lip-service did get paid. But He was elected on a platform of personal wonderfulness, and when you’re a wonderful person you don’t really need to concern yourself too much with the things you do.
And if the results of your reigning are none to flattering, of course there’s always a ready-made excuse:
The Post-Gracious President
Whenever he must make a difficult decision, Mr. Obama complains it’s Bush’s fault.
:
On Afghanistan, Mr. Obama’s chief of staff went on CNN’s “State of the Union” earlier this month to discuss the presidential decision on Afghanistan that everyone is waiting for. “It’s clear that basically we had a war for eight years that was going on, that’s adrift,” said Rahm Emanuel. “That we’re beginning at scratch, and just from the starting point, after eight years.” Translation: If we screw up Afghanistan, blame Mr. Bush. The other came from Mr. Obama himself, speaking at various Democratic fund-raisers last week. “I don’t mind cleaning up the mess that some other folks made,” the president said. “That’s what I signed up to do. But while I’m there mopping the floor, I don’t want somebody standing there saying, ‘You’re not mopping fast enough.'”
This is a frequent Obama complaint. The logic is clear if curious: While it’s OK to blame Mr. Bush for spending too much, it’s not OK to point out that Mr. Obama is already well on track to spend much more.
I’ve seen other Presidents do this, and I’ll see other Presidents do it again I’m sure. This is a politician’s dream: Can’t lose, except when you do, and even then you don’t.
But it’s a new one on me to see this behavior from one who goes on and on, so often, and so enduringly and so endearingly, with the word “responsibility.” Next to “I,” “Me,” “Let Me Be Clear” and “Uh,” I think the R-word comes in next on the ranking.
Maybe President Obama would recover some of His approval rating if He were to personally show us what some of it looked like.

The Left isn’t interested in taking responsibility for its actions. You should know that by now, Morgan. Do you remember Clinton accepting responsibility for anything? I watched that fool pretty carefully and I sure as heck don’t.
While there are a lot of parallels between Obama and the Carter Administration of the late 70s, I also see a few between Obama and Clinton. In both cases, you had a decidedly left-of-center president who wanted to accomplish big “changes” in American domestic policy. And why not? That’s what liberals do – by definition they like “change” and are always on some big crusade to remake the country in their image. On a side note, have you ever noticed how much of our agenda on the Right these days revolves around simply stopping theirs? Stop the assault weapons ban. Stop cap and trade. Stop the healthcare takeover. Stop the Fairness Doctrine.
Of course, the sad part is that the “change” they seek always involves a transition toward socialism, and they get rather cranky when things don’t go their way. I remember Clinton got defeated by the 1994 Republican Congress or something-or-other, and this was back when Rush Limbaugh was on TV. Rush showed a clip of the president pounding his podium and saying, “The Republicans won’t go along with my plan. Everything I suggest, it’s ‘No, no, no, no!'” Rush turned off the clip, looked into the camera, and said, “That’s because, Mr President, you are wrong, wrong, wrong wrong.”
Obama is the same way. He runs into opposition on his health care plan and he says, “I don’t want the people who created this mess to do a lot of talking.” Apparently our side’s politicians are supposed to abandon their principles, betray their constituents, and back down….or else the president is going to get cranky and start whining.
I don’t remember Bush I, Bush II, or Reagan making these sorts of complaints about the Democrats, do you?
- cylarz | 10/27/2009 @ 10:10Isn’t it odd that we have never heard, not even since he got elected, form one ex-girl friend, a roommate, a co-worker, a professor , his drug dealer, someone, anyone who had some type of acquaintance, friendship, relationship…anything with Obama. Forget the birth certificate, I want to hear and see someone who knew him before the age of forty tell me anything about this ghost, this man of mystery.
This man has accomplished nothing in his life. Oh sure, he gets elected but that’s like taking credit for being born, we’re all involved in the process, passively, but what exactly has Barack Obama actually accomplished? One community organized rally or protest that changed anything, one written article, one piece of legislation…anybody… a little help here…pleeeeeeeezzzzze.
At this point I may need to see some DNA testing on Malia and Sasha, seriously.
- tim | 10/27/2009 @ 10:26Remember his roommate from college? I recall that someone tried to talk to him during the campaign , but it seemed that Obama’s people got to him first, and we didn’t hear anything from him after that.
Also, I recall Obama’s coworkers from that little dinky newspaper he did a stint in NY with, they were posting online though, so take it for what its worth, they disputed Obama’s characterization of his time there in one of his memoirs. That Obama generously embellished the circumstances and his importance in the org. Like with the roommate, this episode didn’t last long at all, then there was silence again.
And still is.
- KG | 10/27/2009 @ 17:46The man’s an empty asscan of a human being.
He can’t lead because he has no substance, structure or underpinning of solid integrity. He’s not done the hard work of building a portfolio of human achievement that employed people, managed people, created wealth, products or stability.
He’s a man of ideology and we all know that bullshit floats on hot air.
