Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Our soceity’s rules for dating give men most of the power. Did you know that?
Sometimes I just have to wonder where we’d be if the angriest and most bitter feminists were naturally inclined toward reaching out toward and empathizing with those of a different mindset, rather than toward preaching to the converted. Heteronormative? Who the hell do you know who talks that way?
H/T: Cassy.

Huh. Sure didn’t seem that way when I was dating.
Who uses words like “heteronormative” in regular conversation? People you probably want to stay away from, probably. They’re likely full of themselves, and want you to be full of themselves as well.
- philmon | 10/30/2008 @ 09:13Wow, I’ve got power? usually I feel afraid to touch women for fear of lawsuit.
- Tom The Impaler | 10/30/2008 @ 11:30Just read it as “The rules give (certain)men most of the power” and it makes perfect sense.
- Robert Mitchell Jr. | 10/30/2008 @ 12:10That was the weirdest thing I’ve ever read (the linkage). I didn’t even understand what #4 meant!
The comment section was fricking scary, especially the male commenters. **shudder**
I’m a little embarrassed to ask this, but, what does heteronormative mean? Is that even a real word?
- Daphne | 10/30/2008 @ 13:44The proper emotion to feel when asking what “heteronormative” means or if it’s even a word would be “apprehension”.
My take on it is that it’s probably a “word” made up by activists to put heterosexuals in their “proper” perspective or place — in their worldview.
Sure enough, I looked it up, and this is what I found:
I guess that means things like the kind of ridicule a man might get for wearing a June Cleaver outfit in public outside of October 31st. I’ll tell you, there aren’t really many heteronormative “rules” that apply to females anymore. As Tim Allen put it:
At any rate, all the Steinem feminists want to do is replace them with a new set of “heteronormative” rules. But, of course, theirs would be goodrules.
The fact that they chose the words “rules”, “punative”, and “force” hints to me that the term generally carries a negative connotation. It translates to academic lingo for “keepin’ the womyn down”.
- philmon | 10/30/2008 @ 15:48Wow. I just went and looked at it the whole thing.
Apparently she doesn’t understand that most of those rules work in the other direction as well?
Maybe they’re attracted to the wrong sorts of guys.
- philmon | 10/30/2008 @ 16:16The fact that they chose the words “rules”, “punative”, and “force” hints to me that the term generally carries a negative connotation.
Yeah, that’s because those are the same words used by Marxists trying to get into power. Like Lenin….and that guy running for president on the Democratic ticket.
You can be sure that when “punative” and “force” get thrown around…”gulag” can’t be far behind.
