Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Eric Holder, President-Elect Obama’s Attorney General Designate, testified before the Senate, and within the article talking about it, something caught my eye:
Hmmm. It’s purely a value judgment. They don’t talk too much about that in the article because if they did, that would hurt the argument.
But I thought of something. Suppose we re-word that slightly.
Well?
Did I re-word unfairly?
Or is that maybe perhaps an apt analogy…and the United States should stop doing both things. Just sort of be the puffball-of-the-globe.
Just come out and freakin’ say so. I don’t mean to defeat people with logic here; the election’s over, my side lost. But that’s all the more reason, isn’t it.
Enough of the self-important righteous bellowing. Just continue a fairly simple thought with some old-fashioned logic. If you please.

Obama supports locking detainees in near-freezing rooms until they crack, which can take days. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s worse than waterboarding. Though I wouldn’t call either policy torture, how can someone say that waterboarding is torture and locking someone in a near-freezing room for days is not? When will those who condemned waterboarding also condemn Obama’s position as “pro-torture”?
The again, how can someone say that Palin isn’t qualified to be Vice-President while at the same time claim that Obama is qualified to be President?
- JohnJ | 01/16/2009 @ 00:56They’re trying to stigmatize the idea that wboarding can be used for defense rather than offense. There’s an awful lot of talk about the tremendous love people like this have for their country, Obama droned on about it often enough. But if you loved a woman this way, the thing to do to her would be to lock her up in a room with the guy who raped her and make sure she can’t get out.
And then anytime she makes a move to defend herself from him or merely to get away from him, give her a good whack so she knows what’s-what.
I ramble on tediously about that over here.
- mkfreeberg | 01/16/2009 @ 09:34Excellent point.
Eating Big Macs is dangerous. Riding bicycles is dangerous. Driving cars is dangerous. Climbing mountains is dangerous. What else should we never do?
