An excellent list, with of course a few caveats:
The Daniel Day Lewis version of The Last of The Mohicans is an absurd New Age fantasy of the Noble Redman, and the romance aspect (to say nothing of the unspeakable score) is a “feminist” daydream. I can only hope that the list-maker intended the earlier incarnations of the movie.
The Lord of The Rings is appropriate for its intended audience, which is to say children. The emergence of J.R.R. Tolkein as a favorite of young adults in the ’70s was, and continues to be, a source of astonishment to me, and serves as a primary example of the infantilization of Western Culture.
Your additions are wonderful, and go a long way towards explaining the alienation you must feel from your largely-idiot contemporaries. Conservatives, one and all, are simply more rewarding to talk to – and here’s a great example of the reason.
