Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Just a useful sentence from Ed Driscoll that I wanted to preserve:
[The Tea Party] has to be the first “Totalitarian” movement in the history of mankind that, if it gets everything it wants…will leave you the hell alone.

That’s crap.
When they’re willing to scrap social security, medicare, medicaid and a military that encompasses the globe – then they’ll be the group that will leave you the hell alone.
The Tea Party, whatever the hell that is, isn’t totalitarian but it’s certainly confused.
- Daphne | 08/10/2011 @ 14:48All of the items you’ve named are out-of-scope. So you’re technically correct, but only in the sense that their agenda fails to capture things you would like to see them address — they don’t specifically lean in some opposite, self-contradictory direction.
So your final criticism is nonsense. They have to incorporate more things into their agenda in order not to be confused? Might as well say they’re “confused” until such time as they form a position on Indian fishing rights, or MTBE additive in gasoline, or the Snail Darter, or gay marriage, or, or, or…
If your point is that the government won’t be leaving us alone until it enacts these reforms, well that’s a different conversation. But Driscoll’s statement rings true: Its a sincere cause moving in a linear, not circular, direction — if they get everything they want, they go away. Maybe to re-emerge if the day comes they’re needed again, but they’re not like, say, the race-baiters spending generations braying away with their bullshit about “We’ve Come A Long Way But We’re Not There Yet.” The Tea Party is honest about this, when few other such factions are, and deserve congratulations for it.
- mkfreeberg | 08/10/2011 @ 16:51Jesus wept, Morgan.
When are you finally going to catch a clue that the GOP, tea party style or otherwise, won’t see you to the promised land?
Time to get a new ride, my dear, handsome friend. I have room in my back seat, if you’d rather cruise than drive.
