Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...

A few uber leftists are saying that Detroit is the result of Republican governance and malfeasance. Seriously. Normally I’d chalk it up to stupidity, but I’m opting for malice in this instance. All of the media will bleat out this bullshit and it will become another accepted Big Lie.
I know what you’re thinking: there aren’t enough stupid people in this country for that to work. As a counter-example to that argument, I would like to point out the results of the last presidential election.
- Physics Geek | 07/22/2013 @ 05:41First thought in my head is: Who? Can they name names? Some Michigan Governor, maybe?
- mkfreeberg | 07/22/2013 @ 05:55Which is proof — if any more were needed — that politics is nothing but tribalism. You pick your party like you pick your favorite baseball team. Dad’s a Yankees fan, so you’re a Yankees fan… unless you don’t get along with Dad, and become a die-hard Mets fan instead.
I can count on one hand the number of times a liberal had specifics to hand when pressed on one of these questions. You do realize that Detroit hasn’t elected a Republican to anything since the early 1960s, right? That Michigan as a whole has been bluer than blue for quite a while, thanks largely to unions and…ummm….diversity in the capital? Sheesh. But they all know that Mitt Romney’s dad was governor of Michigan for a while, so therefore it’s all the GOP’s fault. Wonderful how these little beachhead facts open a path for huge swathes of stupidity.
- Severian | 07/22/2013 @ 06:24Well, this is one of the reasons we lose elections. What a great line for an intelligent vote-getter to use! Democrats are powerless against Republicans, by their own admission. Republicans can turn a bankrupt state around in months, while Democrats are helpless against Republicans decades after the fact, according to Democrats. Whee! Make them eat those lies anything they propose anything. “Raise the Minimum Wage!” “Sorry, it won’t work, it’s too soon. Wait until Republicans have been out of power for a century, and it might work. As it is, Detroit, right? Not your fault, but we can’t take the chance it will happen again, and we both agree that Detroit happened because Democrats tried to do things too soon after Republicans were in office. Our hands are tied….”.

You’re going about this all wrong. You’re attempting to use facts and logic in your argument. Feelings, ignorance, brain damage: these are the things the leftist craves.
- Physics Geek | 07/22/2013 @ 13:31Charles Krauthammer takes apart the argument. Again, do not assume that reality will be allowed to intrude into the dementia of modern leftism..
- Physics Geek | 07/23/2013 @ 06:06This Sunday, while what’s left of the city slept, a giant arm, straight, with ungloved fist reminicent of “Black Power” seen beginning with “diverse” Democrat Party style “management” of the city, was erected, at the corner of Woodward and Jefferson, in Detroit.
It’s…um… “in honor of Joe Louis”.
I suppose it can be sold off as scrap, along with it’s support structure. Apparently the
Joe Lewis honorarium can’t stand on it’s own. The public display CERTAINLY doesn’t
fit in with the grand experiment of “zero-tolerance” for VIOLENCE promoted in Detroit’s public schools.
It may also serve as a monument to Crony Socialism, preparing the remaining residents to “Bend over, here it comes!” cuz’ it’s time to pay the piper, and the old Socialism-via-Fascism, and “Activism”, “community organizers” ain’t bringing their new-found gub’mint WPA political staff back to town anytime soon.
Can anyone actually call Obama on their “Obama phone”?
- CaptDMO | 07/23/2013 @ 07:29Aren’t those GM “flex” fuel freight, delivery, taxis, busses, fire, maintenance, garbage, abmbulance and police vehicals that AREN’T running on Detroit’s streets?
crap…
“…ain’t bringing their new-found gub’mint WPA political staff back to town anytime soon, and all the left over “new” Obama Treasury Money (how much is just one trillion?) is being spent on foreign “interests” by the forklift pallet load.
Bet all those narco-dollars that somehow ended up in central/south America would have been enough to rename a “New/Free Detroit” Obamatropolis. Time was when all the community fathers would keep the drug dealers out. Apparently, the “job” of many “daddies” changed , since Dems PROMISED “change”.
- CaptDMO | 07/23/2013 @ 07:47As it is, I think Uniontown is an apt sobriquet, but there’s already a BUNCH of those now-inconsequential bergs with that name.
