Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
When police in Navarre, Florida received a call for a noise complaint, they arrived to find a bleeding man running toward them along with his girlfriend. The man’s groin was dripping blood, and he was screaming that he’d been shot…
Amanda Kelly told a deputy that her dad, William Russell Kelly Jr., had shot her boyfriend Randall Carter at their home. The reason for dad’s ire, according to the younger Kelly: “He hates him, dude.”
William readily admitted to the shooting, but claims a different motive. He says he unloaded his .45 revolver, which he affectionately calls “The Judge,” because Carter was assaulting this daughter. “I shot him in the nuts with bird-shot because he was beating my daughter,” Kelly told police.
He’s been charged with aggravated battery. Carter, meanwhile, has already received his sentence for messing with an armed man’s daughter.

A couple of friends of mine own “The Judge”. The .45 slug costs too darned much, but a .410 shell fits just fine. Perfect for home defense and daughter defense.
- Physics Geek | 02/19/2010 @ 08:28Doesn’t “unloaded” imply more than one shot?
You know, I think I’m letting go of her before you even squeeze off the first one.

Which should make one wonder, as in “Carter, meanwhile, has already received his sentence for messing with an armed man’s daughter”…allegedly.
- tim | 02/19/2010 @ 10:13I note that for most men, suspecting that your daughter’s boyfriend is beating her and hating him are probably not mutually exclusive.
He’s lucky it was just birdshot.
- Rich Fader | 02/19/2010 @ 10:44I am confused on one point.
First we have:
The reason for dad’s ire, according to the younger Kelly: “He hates him, dude.”
Then we have:
“I shot him in the nuts with bird-shot because he was beating my daughter,” Kelly told police.
Okay, so why didn’t the daughter say the same thing? Shouldn’t she have told police, “My dad shot my boyfriend because he was beating me” not “He hates him, dude?”
- cylarz | 02/19/2010 @ 11:21cylarz,
I was thinking the same and was going to mention it because there is that beaten wife syndrome that makes some women excuse their husband (or in this case boyfriend).
While a nut shot story is indeed blog worthy, things don’t sound right with this one.
- tim | 02/19/2010 @ 14:19Well, that is illegal use of a firearm. You can get the gun out and tell him to stop, but unless he escallates it to the potential for death or serious bodily harm, no can pull-ey the trigamarator.
Well not legally anyway.
I have a “Judge”. Taurus 4410. It’s quite versatile.
That is the cool thing about The Judge. You can shoot .45 Long Colts out of it. Or any kind of 2.5″ .410 shell. Bird shot is a good deterrent. 3 shot will do some damage at close range. And then, since mine’s for home defense, 000 Buckshot is like firing three 9mm’s at one time. Extremely effective at short range.
