The to-the-last-man saturation of it. What do communist thugs have to do with movie-making anyhow.
And so Sean Penn’s remark was of particular interest; and no, I don’t think he’s “kooky,” I think he just likes communists. As does most of Hollywood.
I wonder how Sean Penn would feel about reinstating the Hays Code. Maybe the rest of the country can work out a deal with him. A weekend in the pokey for anybody who calls the communist dictator a communist dictator…and if any movie ever glorifies crime, or depraved behavior, or violence against women and children, or showers us with yet more good-guys-kinda-bad or bad-guys-kinda-good…or contains any of the other things I don’t want to see in movies ever again…it gets shuttered up tight deep in a warehouse somewhere, forgotten, before it makes a single dime.
Yeah, that’s my open letter. How ’bout it Mr. Penn?

A little disappointed that the FOX video and accompanying article didn’t contain a link to the text.
So, I followed Ms Alonso’s recommendation to Google the letter by its title. Strangely the first few matches on my search were simply articles ABOUT the letter. I wanted to read the actual text without editorial interruptions, for want of a better term.
It goes without saying that Ms Alonso has a little bit better grasp on Venezuelan politics than Mr Penn does. Unfortunately for him, many communist and socialist countries put up facades for foreigners (particularly Americans) to look at, intended to guide them to the conclusion that everyday life in those countries is better and easier than it really is.
North Korea is particularly notorious for this and I wouldn’t put it past Chavez either.
