Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Guilty people always have an excuse ready; every minute of every day. It is what they do, they’re always getting ready. That’s part of being guilty.
Bill Whittle has those thoughts and more.
I recall something about this in Atlas Shrugged. Henry Rearden is blackmailed into signing over his rights to Rearden Metal, and he makes the point to the state thug doing the blackmailing — if we really were the type of people you were threatening to make us look like, your threat of blackmail would have no effect on us. And the state thug says, of course, yeah I know. Whatever. Ya gonna sign that thing or are ya gonna make me wait all day?
Rather shocking the amoral things that are done by a state, when it engages in the masquerade of supposedly trying to do super-moral things.
Hat tip: Hector Owen.

Whittle IS good, isn’t he? His archives contain some of the finest conservative writing on the ‘net, IMHO. And you can get to Den Beste from there, too. 😉
- bpenni | 08/26/2009 @ 12:28Whether I mention it at the time or not, EVERY single time I’m accused of bloating my written word needlessly I think of Whittle. He sends two hard Morgan rules into direct conflict with each other:
1. Never fall back on a “The Other Guys Are Doin’ It Too” defense;
2. When the cause of a problem is unknown, exploit every available opportunity to eliminate possibilities.
What a wonderful diagnostic tool Whittle is — when I choose to disregard the first of those two, and use him as my defense. If my critic sees merit to Whittle’s 5,000 words but nothing to justify my 1,000, the critic can explain, or quite bugging me. If the length of my product is somehow relevant but the length of Whittle’s is somehow not, I know I’m being targeted for some reason and the whole exchange is a waste of time.
I can only use it that way because of this one thing: When Whittle uses 5,000 words to say something, he got something said that couldn’t have been said with less. Not as well, anyway.
