Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...

- philmon | 08/02/2011 @ 07:40Dude. Seriously. There’s unsubtle, then there’s ham-fisted, then there’s THIS.
- rhjunior | 08/04/2011 @ 06:43This is why the liberals are winning the culture war… liberals may be unsubtle from time to time, but conservatives can’t make an effective allegory if their lives depended on it.
There are some creative liberals out there, but it’s silly to deny there are some equally talented conservatives.
I think the problem is the subject matter. We seem to be wired to accept a certain kind of narrative, in our designated role as audience, and the narrative we “like” is one that leans left. Working-class schmuck ends up on the wrong side of the big cheese in town, or the tiny band of elite robber barons; eventually he is backed into a corner and says “that ain’t right!” and starts a revolution that changes the world for the better, and at the end of it everyone is on equal footing. Robin Hood, Rob Roy, Logan’s Run, Shane, Pale Rider, Jason and the Golden Fleece, Spartacus…
- mkfreeberg | 08/04/2011 @ 14:15Noooo, I’m saying— okay, this animation could have been done well. It wasn’t. It plays like a bitter divorcee reading a bedtime story to her kid: “And then the no-good cheating MISTER Bunny went off and chased something cute and fluffy to the no-tell Motel, got a divorce and never sent an alimony check….”
- rhjunior | 08/04/2011 @ 17:47Sorry, I thought it was very well done. Part of the idea is, yes, to make a body feel silly to hold the liberal position. There’s ridicule in it, you bet.
Ridicule is a tool the Alinskyite left has used with great success with the squishy middle. People are literally embarrassed to voice a conservative opinion, or sometimes to even allow himself to take it seriously because of this ridicule.
There is nothing mean about this, and the allegory is spot on.
- philmon | 08/04/2011 @ 19:52The animation is actually very good. It’s a particular style, and the style is well chosen. Simple animation to underscore the simple truth.
- philmon | 08/04/2011 @ 19:54Well, I can start to see rh’s point, subtlety is a virtue and this animation does lack it.
But then again, I can see mine too. Since when has liberal humor fallen flat because the subtlety was missing??
