Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...

Showtunes at the HoE! Who’d a THUNK it? 🙂
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Morgan. I hope the weather is fine on the coast.
- bpenni | 12/24/2010 @ 10:14Hands down and by several lengths, my favorite Christmas story. I have four versions of the movie. One from 1938 with Reginald Owen, another from 1951 with Alistair Sim, one from George C. Scott in the 70’s or so, and the one with Patrick Stewart, I think 1989.
The scene you have here is from a musical version …. not my favorite, but …. it holds the honor of having my favorite scene from all of the versions I have scene, and it is this one. It’s the imagery. It is the richest, warmest, lushest set of them all for the Ghost of Christmas Present. So I may need to go get this one, too.
Just watched the Patrick Stewart one for the first time this year. The acting is superb, and it, I think, sticks closest to the original story. The only thing the wife and I had trouble with was Scrooge as a bald man. He needed to glue some stringy grey hair to his head.
Oh, that and the Ghost of Christmas Future’s eyes…. he looked like a sand people. If they’d just left the eyes out.
- philmon | 12/24/2010 @ 10:18Heh. Buck, Morgan is a more complex man than he sometimes appears 😉
He’s a movie connoisseur like my wife, and I have seen stuff from musicals on these pages in the past.
The fact that it’s my favorite scene from my favorite story … a bonus. Well, ’tis the season! Merry Christmas to you all!
- philmon | 12/24/2010 @ 10:21(ok, the George C Scott one was from 84, it looks like)
