Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
Time Out: 5:08
Time In: 18:11
Distance: 71.67
Scariest wild animal encountered: If bovine creatures count, a herd of cows I seem to have sent into a stampede. On one of those “okay if I do this again I don’t think I’m coming this way” shortcuts, it became a doubtful proposition as to whether I was still on a public road…this situation arises frequently out there. Never saw any barriers. I pushed on through and made my egress. But the cows didn’t appreciate it.
Didn’t break the distance record, but that was not the intent anyway. It was quite by accident that I came as close as I did.
I’ll put a map together when the opportunity presents itself…

How long does it take you to ride from Nimbus Dam to Discovery park via the American river trail?
- cylarz | 04/27/2011 @ 01:11I think the short answer on that is gonna be a couple hours.
The rainbow bridge (older bridge) which is just North of Nimbus, is very close to 28.0 iirc…the zero marker is in DP so that’s fourteen mph which I can average for that long with reasonable ease.
I actually did make an even two-hour trip out of it from my back door, to where my girlfriend worked at the time on 21st and F. I’m four miles from the trailhead on Iron Point road which leads to CSUS, I think I worked it out this was the equivalent of living on Jedediah Smith mile marker 30. To get to 21st and F, you catch J street at about Smith Trail mile 6.4, 6.6 somewhere around in there. So that’s close to the same distance I think…
These upscale-urban guys are like greased lightning compared to me. They put some real money into it, super-light aluminum structures between their knees that cost more than my car. My equipment can go off-road, and that does come in handy sometimes. But sometimes there is a distinct feel that I should have an orange triangle mounted on my backside.
Especially at about eleven in the morning I might add. These guys on their three thousand dollar bikes have been out for twenty minutes tops, I’ve been there for seven hours…it shows.
