Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...

Curious….how much time did you spend in Detroit?
And more curious, when did that sojourn occur?
- karrde | 06/23/2008 @ 20:20I drove in. I was insistent on taking Bessie with me. It was the beginning of December ’91, I remember because I saw a Newsweek or Time magazine in a gas station commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Pearl. So I commuted two thousand miles to start my job.
I left the area ten months later because this hot contract came up out here in Sacto, Oct. of ’92.
Besides of which, I found there was very little to do for fun in the fair haired thity of detwoit. I mean, very little. If you’re not a Pistons fan, there’s even less. Maybe in those ten months I could’ve shown a better willingness to open my horizons, but looking back I have to say I don’t see where the opportunity availed itself. I didn’t settle in easily with Detroit.
- mkfreeberg | 06/23/2008 @ 21:18I have some family from my wife’s side in Detroit. But the most evil person I ever met lives around there, too. We won’t go into that.
Pineapple and plain cold cereal. Mmmmm.
I’ve never ridden a motorcycle, but a little Bob Seger, a Harley, and some open road… I’m there. I’d do it. Of course, I’d probably be headed for mountains. But I could appreciate a lot of other places as well.
Blogging isn’t a weakness of yours … you add immensely to the public discourse. It may occupy too much of your time. I hope it doesn’t. But I and many others appreciate what you do in this bit of spare time. You, my friend, rock … in your own way in this area. And lots of others, I’m sure.
What??? No fast food jobs???
🙂

Red Wings!!
Our experiences were 180-out, Morgan. I spent ten years in Deetroit (’85 – ’95) and still look back fondly on that time. Good restaurants, solid people, an active music scene (if you knew where to look), wonderful old neighborhoods with interesting architecture (and affordable, too), and LOTSA cool cars.
- Buck | 06/24/2008 @ 11:40Hey, I’m tryin’ to get a little shut eye over here, okay?
- vanderleun | 06/24/2008 @ 13:00Not too surprised.
I grew up in the Detroit metro region, and I only pay attention to sports when the Red Wings get into the playoffs.
If you aren’t into “Car Culture”, there isn’t a lot in Detroit, I’ll admit.
Of course, I used to tell people that I was from Small Town X, which happened to be directly adjacent to Detroit…
