Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
When I heard Coulter was coming to Canada I figured attending the event would be worth the entertainment value, if for nothing other than to witness the unhinged reaction that was sure to follow. Ottawa U didn’t disappoint.
When I arrived there was a line of a few hundred, maybe a thousand people outside the Marion building. A few of them were chanting in front of the cameras but the line was otherwise better behaved than for a typical rock concert. The size of the line was no doubt a bit of a problem because the room held no more than 400 (my estimate).
Since I had registered for the event ahead of time I had no trouble elbowing my way to the front, verifying my name was on the list, getting inside and chatting briefly with Ezra Levant.
After a while the fire alarm went off, the obvious false alarm having been dealt with we sat down expecting the event to start.
Instead Ezra announced that police told him it would be “physically unsafe” to bring Ann in due to the “unruly mob” outside. There was certainly no issue, or even noise, inside the auditorium.
The cops ended up shutting it down.
So if there’s a space alien living in your spare bedroom and he’s counting on you to fill him in on all your Earth customs, would you be able to explain this?
The left is concerned that we put policies in place that work for everyone…and that everyone have a voice.
But only the cool parts of “everyone.”

Canada is no longer the country I grew up in.
- pdwalker | 03/24/2010 @ 22:19Ann published a column about this today. You can read it here:

She complained bitterly (and rightfully so) about the way she’s been treated up there. My question is…if there was such a “security risk” from unruly students, shouldn’t someone have just called in riot police to deal with the situation?
Yeah, yeah, yeah…that would have cost $$ and Coulter is someone they don’t particularly care to hear from anyway up there. You know what? If unruly mobs are going to be allowed to shut down any speech that they disagree with, then Canada is in some serious trouble.
But there I go again, assuming that it’s still a modern Western republic with some commitment to free speech and other freedoms associated with a modern democracy. Silly me. I’m probably giving those leaf-waving, maple-syrup-slurping, broad-hat-wearing, puck-slapping moose jockeys too much credit….EH??
- cylarz | 03/25/2010 @ 02:22Let me correct you on this point: the cops DIDN’T shut it down. Her bodyguard shut it down. Told her not to go out because some pulled a fire alarm. Her complaints are full of ignorance and bullshit. Perhaps she ought to have educated herself with the laws of the land in which she is speaking in rather than blasting, ignorantly, the faculty and a country that is choosing to exercise the same rights she claims she deserves.
- KC | 03/25/2010 @ 17:09Can’t stand that irrelevant wench and everything she represents. Archaic and racist. White Supremacist.
.. oh and ‘mobbed’ is HARDLY correct… you make it out as if her life WAS actually in danger… while in Canada. PLEASE… she’s been ATTACKED on American soil MORE than on Canadian soil. American arrogance and ignorance is truly at the root of this. Sickening.
- KC | 03/25/2010 @ 17:14Dear KC and The Sunshine Band. Let’s take this one step at a time:
First off, do you know what I like most about Coulter? She pisses off all the right people.
Let me correct you on this point: the cops DIDN’T shut it down. Her bodyguard shut it down.
First, don’t presume to “correct” me on anything. Like most of your kind I run across online, you think you’re going to straighten someone else out when you yourself don’t have the truth.
Assuming you’re even giving a correct account of the incident, don’t you find it troublesome in the least that a speech has to be canceled for security reasons…over the speaker’s views….in Canada? Ostensibly a modern Western country with enlightened, tolerant citizens? Quite frankly a person ought to be able to speak in that country w/o fear of reprisal no matter how “offensive” he is thought to be.
Told her not to go out because some pulled a fire alarm. Her complaints are full of ignorance and bullshit.
Which part of her complaints are full of anything besides truth? She’s got a point. You maple suckers tolerate every brand of Muslim-fueled hated and homosexual perversion, but not someone who wants to talk about current events from a conservative perspective. You ought to be outraged over this, and instead you’re among the unruly crowd. What the hell, man?
Perhaps she ought to have educated herself with the laws of the land in which she is speaking in rather than blasting, ignorantly, the faculty and a country that is choosing to exercise the same rights she claims she deserves.
It doesn’t occur to you that “hate speech” laws are incompatible with freedom-of-speech both in law and in spirit? Oh wait, your frozen socialist paradise probably doesn’t even have a First Amendment. This is what I expect from a country that allowed the redcoats to hang around another 200 years, instead of saying “Enough!” and throwing them out like we did. God save the queen and all that.
Next, you’ll be telling me that it’s okay for college campuses here in the US to be censoring students for political reasons.
Can’t stand that irrelevant wench and everything she represents.
Can’t stand your irrevelant country and your like-minded mockers in the UK, Holland, France, and Germany. Canada is even worse – while it takes advantage of our military protection like the rest of NATO (while looking down their noses at our cowboy culture), it doubles the insult by allowing its citizens to come galloping down here and avail themselves of our superior healthcare system. Most of you prattle on about how wonderful it is up there, but maybe down here in God’s country we’ve seen up-close-and-personal what a disaster you’ve got going on up there and want no part of it.
I can’t wait to see the looks on the faces of your citizens when they’re forced to stand in line just as they did back home.
Archaic and racist. White Supremacist.

…and unsurprisingly, you’ve failed to provide any in-context examples. But she thinks differently than you and so must be a hater. Right?
.. oh and ‘mobbed’ is HARDLY correct… you make it out as if her life WAS actually in danger… while in Canada. PLEASE… she’s been ATTACKED on American soil MORE than on Canadian soil.
Maybe because she’s given more speeches on American soil than Canadian soil.
American arrogance and ignorance is truly at the root of this. Sickening.

I’m actually glad you’ve got your panties in a wad over this. I’m laughing my ass off at you.
Feel free, however, to help yourself to a nice tall glass of shut-the-fuck-up.
- cylarz | 03/25/2010 @ 18:26cylarz,
In the future, please don’t sugarcoat your responses. I want to know what you *really* think.
(I’m laughing my ass off here)
- pdwalker | 03/25/2010 @ 18:34I’ll take it under advisement, PD. In the meantime, remember: Canada! America’s hat!
