Alarming News: I like Morgan Freeberg. A lot.
American Digest: And I like this from "The Blog That Nobody Reads", because it is -- mostly -- about me. What can I say? I'm on an ego trip today. It won't last.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: We were following a trackback and thinking "hmmm... this is a bloody excellent post!", and then we realized that it was just part III of, well, three...Damn. I wish I'd written those.
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler: ...I just remembered that I found a new blog a short while ago, House of Eratosthenes, that I really like. I like his common sense approach and his curiosity when it comes to why people believe what they believe rather than just what they believe.
Brutally Honest: Morgan Freeberg is brilliant.
Dr. Melissa Clouthier: Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes (pftthats a mouthful) honors big boned women in skimpy clothing. The picture there is priceless--keep scrolling down.
Exile in Portales: Via Gerard: Morgan Freeberg, a guy with a lot to say. And he speaks The Truth...and it's fascinating stuff. Worth a read, or three. Or six.
Just Muttering: Two nice pieces at House of Eratosthenes, one about a perhaps unintended effect of the Enron mess, and one on the Gore-y environ-movie.
Mein Blogovault: Make "the Blog that No One Reads" one of your daily reads.
The Virginian: I know this post will offend some people, but the author makes some good points.
Poetic Justice: Cletus! Ah gots a laiv one fer yew...
They know, Mr. Taranto, they know.
[Shanta] Driver’s position seems instead to be based on the contemporary leftist theory that groups certified as “oppressed” deserve special treatment at the expense of the “privileged.” Such a view, however, collapses in its own illogic. A system that gives special treatment to members of an “oppressed” group is simply a new variety of privilege.
Yes, The Left is supposed to be about “equality.” Yet, with every single issue that comes along, there is always one class of people The Left wants to win all the time, and another class of people they want to be beaten all of the time. And, of course, they’re full of complaints whenever they don’t win. All of the time.
They’re not about equality and they never have been. Where did we ever get such an idea? They said so?

I think it was Fred Reed who said that one of the greatest lies ever told was that liberalism was about helping the downtrodden. It’s actually about downtreading the uptrodden.
An easy thought experiment: Say you could rejigger the world in such a way that every Third World child has clean water and basic vaccines, but the service providers — call ’em HealthCo — would make a tidy profit in the process. Would liberals take the deal?
Or forget HealthCo. Let’s say we can wave the wand a bit more, and every kid gets the above, but the same wave of the wand guarantees that the Koch Brothers get to keep every penny of their wealth. Would liberals take it?
It’s easy for them to puff and pant and say “of course!”, because in reality there is no magic wand. BUT…. something not-dissimilar has been tried before. Remember PEPFAR? Billions of dollars for “free” AIDS drugs to Africa, millions of lives saved or extended, and….
…..all liberals could do is bitch that it promoted abstinence. And made countries receiving aid try to cut down on prostitution, because, you know, AIDS is mainly spread by email. And, of course, it was the eeeeevil Boooooooshh!!! who promoted it, so it had to fail.
I don’t even think they want one class of people to win all the time. Leftism is for losers, by losers, and it’s all about losers. The entire point is punishment.
